  Smoked Side Marker and
  Bumper Marker Lights

I used the Testors 2949 transparent black window tint spray paint and the instructions detailed at VWEnthusiast.

NOTE: The instructions don't say anything about putting on a clearcoat. So I didn't. Well, they held up pretty good all winter (did this back in November of 2000). Well this summer (2001) I started using a new Turtlewax Bug and Tar remover, and I noticed that it must contain some kind of alcohol, because it started to take off my tint off the lights. I'm going to have to redo my lights, and give them a clearcoat this time around.

Just grab that black rubber piece and pull. It will come off, you just have to pull a little hard.. No biggie.

I'm still not clear on which side is best to push in with. I just used my old credit card to do it, and it was a bitch! but I finally got them both out. It would have been real easy to get them out if I wasn't so worried about not getting any scratches on the paint.

I just used some old shoe boxes to set the lights into so I only sprayed the front.

Popping them back in was a hell of a lot easier.. Can you tell it took a while? It's dark already..

And both of them lit up during the day. I'm thinking that I might have made the sidemarker a bit too dark... but such is life..
